The Eastern New York Air & Waste Management Association established the Brian S. Noel Memorial Scholarship following the September 2024 unexpected and untimely passing of our Chair, Brian S. Noel.

During Brian’s career as a Chemical Engineer in both industry and consulting, he made tireless efforts to improve the environment and this scholarship has been established to provide financial assistance to an individual pursuing undergraduate study in an environmentally related, engineering related or chemistry field. 

Thanks to the generosity of SABIC’s Selkirk, NY plant, there will be a second $500.00 scholarship awarded for use in the 2025-26 academic year.  

The award criteria is based on a combination of academic performance, pursuit of higher education within an environmental or engineering program, and the applicant’s career and professional goals. 

We will award two (2) $500.00 scholarship awards on the basis of a comprehensive process and applicants are limited to those who live within, attend, or will attend a College or University in the “12---” zip codes (Eastern New York) in the 2025-26 academic year.  Scholarship funds of $500.00 will be paid directly to the individual in August 2025.
