The former ALCO industrial site in Schenectady, was for many years an abandoned and decaying industrial river side eyesore.  A local Developer saw the benefits of a future site developed to provide river access to the public and residents.  The NYSDEC Brownfield Clean-up program was used as the vehicle to move this former locomotive and tank manufacturing site, to one of Schenectady’s transformational developments incorporating hotels, town-homes, apartments, a marina and harbor, and the new Rivers Casino.  Scott Nostrand, from Barton & Loguidice, will describe how the Brownfield Cleanup program resulted in the investigation and remediation of the site, in the midst of a fast-paced design and construction project which has truly re-energized this historic American City.
